Grout Cleaning & Sealing

When was the last time you had the tile and grout surfaces in your home cleaned and sealed? If you can’t remember, or if it’s been a while, now is the time! The tile and grout surfaces in your home can easily become dirty and unattractive, which is why they need to be periodically cleaned and sealed.

"Why did my grout become so soiled in the first place... it's only a few years old?"

Rarely do tile installers seal grout. In the meantime, dirty mop water, everyday traffic and use finds its way into the grout pores. Tile and grout in your home collects dirt fast because grout is porous and easily discolors. You may not even remember the original color of your grout due to how quickly dirt can get into your grout.

"What is the process for Cleaning and Sealing?"

We first deep clean your tile and grout by machine with a high-speed, yet gentle scrubber that also extracts the dirt from your tile and grout. Once your tile and grout is dry, our final step is applying Clear OR Color Seal to grout lines, to seal and protect against stains and spills. Sealer is nontoxic, water-based, and safe for families and pets.

"Is Grout Sealer hard to apply?"

We always recommend our trained technicians for this type of work. It takes knowledge of what types of grout are sealable and, of course, takes plenty of patience and a steady hand.

"Can you match the existing color of my grout?"

Yes. Doctor Tile Restoration has numerous Color Seal color choices. You can have any color you wish. Even under the best conditions, grout (even new grout) has different shades. We simply match the color you desire to insure a consistent shade of grout color. Our Color Seal absorbs into the pores of your grout for a long lasting/uniform finish.

"What is the dry time?"

You can walk on your floor in 10 to 15 minutes however, it takes 48 hours to fully cure. Keep sealed areas dry for 48 hours to ensure best results.

"How often do you have to clean the grout once restored?"

Experts agree, you should clean your floor at least once a week using a mild, pH neutral floor cleaning solution. When maintaining the cleanliness of your floor, it is crucial to regularly replace the water in your mop bucket. However, the utmost importance lies in ensuring that all moisture is thoroughly removed from the floor before it has a chance to dry on the tile and grout lines.

DO NOT use acidic cleaners. EX bleach/vinegar, they are not healthy for grout surfaces & can erode your sealer over time.

Touch up with fresh sealer as needed, noting that heavily scrubbed areas may cause the sealer to erode over time.

"How often do you have to reseal the grout after the first application?"

Depending on conditions, with proper maintenance, sealer can last for years.

"How much does it cost to have my grout cleaned and Sealed?"
